Introduction

Welcome to The Sims. This is the international passport to cool for the modern youngster. They will do most anything to have this game - even comply with onerous lifestyle requirements. And this is how we are going to get every youngster with asthma to measure their peak flow regularly, identify and avoid their asthma triggers, learn more about the illness - and have a darn good time doing it!

Objective

The primary objective of this communications programme is to promote a healthy lifestyle among young people with asthma, resulting in reduced incidents of asthma attacks and therefore healthier patients and lower treatment costs. The secondary objective is to give these youngsters a positive spin on asthma, diminishing the stigma of the illness and making their good health fun.

Concept: buy-in

In order to achieve these objectives, we need a sustainable, simple method of getting and keeping youngsters interested in managing their health appropriately. Crucial to this is buy-in, most importantly, from the children and teenagers themselves, but also from parents. The full commitment of both is essential to lay a solid foundation for healthy living.
